About the Program
The Professional Courses Program (PCP) was initiated by Help The Blind Foundation to support a niche but critical group within the visually impaired community — high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who have secured admission to India’s most prestigious professional institutions.
During the academic year 2024–25, HTBF identified a small but growing cohort of visually impaired students studying in institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IIITs, and leading universities across disciplines including engineering, management, law, and technology. While academically exceptional, many of these students come from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and face significantly higher funding requirements.
Recognising both the challenge and the opportunity, the Board of Trustees of HTBF approved focused, high-value support for these students through the Professional Courses Program.
PCP provides enhanced financial assistance and sustained engagement to enable students to complete demanding professional courses without compromise.
The program has received an encouraging response from the NRI and HNI community, many of whom have come forward to sponsor PCP students after witnessing their academic performance and commitment.
The Strategic Team at IIT Madras has expressed strong appreciation for HTBF’s initiative. They are facilitating connections across IITs and NITs nationwide to raise awareness about the Professional Courses Program and enable wider outreach to visually impaired students across campuses.
